Message from Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, on the Occasion of World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 教科文組織總幹事奧德蕾·阿祖萊促進可持續發展世界工程日致辭 4 March 2020 2020年3月4日 促進可持續發展世界工程日 The Pont du Gard in southern France, the Parthenon in Athens, the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids of Giza at Memphis: four sites on UNESCO’s World Heritage List which are masterpieces of engineering and which still inspire awe today. 南法的加爾水道橋、雅典的帕特農神廟、中國的長城、孟菲斯的吉薩金字塔，這四個被列入聯合國教科文組織世界遺產名錄的遺產地是工程學的傑作，時至今日依然令人嘆為觀止。 Today, we consider these sites to serve an aesthetic purpose. It can help us reduce greenhouse gas emissions, create water treatment and sanitation technology, better prepare for natural disasters, and develop more productive and more sustainable agricultural practices. Engineering and the possibilities it offers will be critical in the coming years.
